The BSM Athletic Hall of Fame was started in 2013 as a way to recognize and honor those alums who have made significant contributions on the field, on the court, or competing as a Red Knight.
Since then, 74 alums have been inducted. The following eight alums joined this prestigious group on Friday, Sept. 29, 2023.

John Moore might be better known to most of you as Coach Moore. However, before he was a coach here at BSM, he was a student three-sport athlete. Although he only played football one year, he was named All Conference. In basketball he was team captain, All Conference, team MVP, WCCO Player of the Week and 2nd All-time single season scorer – only to be passed by Devean George 21 years later.
In the Region 4 championship game against Minnehaha, John scored 24 points with 13 of them in the last quarter. In 1974 he was named to the top 20 scorers of the Central Catholic Conference, finishing in 5th place with a 15 points per game average. He was the starting pitcher for the baseball State Semi-Final game. He was also the Al Blasing Award recipient his senior year. Finally, while playing 3 sports, he was also in Glee Club and the school musical Annie Get Your Gun!
John had 408 career wins as head coach. He is the winningest boys basketball coach in school history, and a member of the prestigious Minnesota Basketball Coaches Association 300 and 400 win clubs. John led teams to 9 conference championships and 3 section championships, leading to 3 State Tournament appearances.
In 2007 they were runner up, and in 2008 they captured the state champion title. John was named MN Basketball Coaches Association Coach of the year 4 times. He grew the BSM basketball program to have as many as 10 teams, easily the most in the school, and mentored over 50 coaches, many who went on to become head coaches. Not only did John care about coaching his players in basketball, he equally cared about coaching them in life. Boys who attended the BSM basketball camp in grades 3 through 9, had a lot of fun and certainly learned a lot of basketball, but NO basketball camper ever left camp without learning how to present a good handshake.
Lessons from Coach Moore on how to greet someone with a handshake were an instrumental part of basketball camp for 2 decades. Graduates of BSM who played under coach Moore, and those who coached, certainly understood that if you were not “10 minutes early, you were late.” Players were challenged on a daily basis, not only to improve at the game of basketball but to become better men.

Andretta, better known as Angie, came to BSM from Jamaica as an exchange student for the 1999-2000 school year. While at BSM Angie participated in soccer and track and field.
Following graduation, she attended the University of St. Thomas where she was a member of their track and field team from 2002-2005.
In 2004 Angie was the MIAC conference long jump champion. In 2005, her senior year, she was the No. 7 seed, but won the NCAA outdoor long jump championship with a jump of 19’ 5 ¼”, breaking the Wartburg College stadium record. That mark was also No. 2 all-time in conference history at the time.
She won UST’s 50th individual NCAA title, and placed 4th at the NCAA indoor meet in the long jump for her first career All-American honor. As a 3-time NCAA championships qualifier, Angie also competed at nationals in the 4×100 relay and triple jump.
We are lucky to have Angie on our faculty at BSM, teaching religion and coaching track and field.

Lindsay was an important contributor to the girls’ basketball and track & field teams during her years at BSM. A basketball captain who earned All-Conference Honorable Mention and All-Conference honors, Lindsay was a force to be reckoned with on the track. A four-year letter winner and team captain, Lindsay was a perennial presence at the State Meet.
As a freshman she was a 300 meter low hurdles participant and a member of the 4×400 team that placed 3rd. In successive years she added the high hurdles and high jump to her state repertoire. The team MVP, Lindsay has an extensive list of school records, Conference titles, Section titles, and team honors.
Lindsay capped off her impressive BSM athletic career by receiving the Athena Award in 2003. After graduating from BSM, Lindsay walked on to the USC track and field team. While there, she was a three-time USC varsity letter winner and co-captain of the Women’s Track and Field Team in 2007-2008. While a Trojan, she received the Walk-on Award, the Team Academic Achievement Award, and the Coach’s Award. Lindsay was named to the Pac-10 All-academic first team in 2007 and 2008, was President of the USC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and President of the Pac-10 Student Athlete Advisory Committee, representing all Pac-10 student-athletes for the NCAA.
Finally, Lindsay competed in the PAC-10 Multi-Events Championships in 2007 and 2008, placing 13th and 10th respectively, and was on the top-ten all-time list at USC for the heptathlon with a Personal Record of 5,025 points from Texas Relays Track Competition in Spring 2008.

During her time at BSM, you could find Shannon Reilly at the rink and on the links. In 2005 Shannon earned All-Conference honors in hockey and was named All State Honorable Mention. The honors continued for the hockey captain. She was All-Conference, All-State Honorable Mention, and recipient of the Coach’s Award. According to Coach Herbst, she was the most intense hockey player he ever coached. She was a great leader who knew hockey and was very focused.
Shannon was a state participant in golf. She was named the team’s Most Improved and also earned All-Conference honors, the Sportsmanship Award, and the Coach’s Award. Shannon never abandoned the red and she continued her hockey career as an Ohio State Buckeye. She concluded her first collegiate season by being just the second Buckeye to be named to the WCHA All-Rookie Team, and she was named her team’s Most Valuable Freshman after playing in all 37 games.
She finished with 24 points on 6 goals and 18 assists, and led all Ohio State freshmen in scoring. The summer after her freshman season she participated in the U.S. Women’s Under-22 Camp in Lake Placid, N.Y. Shannon was a consistent force on the ice. She played in 35 games her sophomore year, 35 games her junior year, and 34 games as a senior. At the beginning of her Junior year she was named as one of the WCHA All-Stars, an honor given to just 22 players from the conference.
During her senior season, Shannon, the assistant captain of the team, was named the WCHA defensive player of the week. She was also named to the WCHA All-Academic Team and The Ohio State University’s Dean’s List. After college, Shannon spent a couple of years (2011-2013) playing professionally for Ladies Team Lugano in Switzerland.

Maddie was a three-sport athlete at BSM, lettering in soccer, hockey, and lacrosse. A keeper for the girls’ soccer team, she was named Minnesota Ms. Soccer Goalie in 2009. Her list of accolades in soccer included All-Conference, All-State Tournament Team, All-State, and MVP and many of those awards were earned multiple years.
She holds the school record for career shutouts, saves, and games in goal. In addition to her soccer honors, she was also given the Coach’s Award and named All Conference for LaCrosse. Maddie finished her athletic career here at BSM by being honored with the Athena Award. Maddie went on to play soccer for Iowa State. During her career as a Cyclone her stats and honors are very impressive. She was named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week numerous times, consistently earned a spot on the Academic All-Big 12 Team and was named the team’s Most Valuable Defensive Player.
Adding minutes played, career saves, goals-against average, and shutouts would definitely take a calculator. As a senior, Maddie started all 20 games and played every minute at goalkeeper for the team. She finished as Iowa State’s all-time leader in goalkeeper wins (29) and shutouts (21) and was second all-time in the Cyclone record book with 319 saves. She finished her senior season with 91 saves, good enough for second best in the Big 12, and finished with a 0.784 save percentage.

In 2009 Sanjay showcased his athletic abilities on the golf course. He was given All- Conference honors and named Rookie of the Year on the varsity golf team. In his junior year he came alive on the basketball court, averaging 12.4 points per game and leading the Red Knights to a 23-5 record and a North Suburban Conference title.
That season he scored a season-best 34 points in a win over DeLaSalle. His honors included All-Conference, team captain, All-Metro, All-State second team, and Mr. Basketball finalist. He represented the Red Knights in the MBCA All-Star Series and was named team MVP. After his impressive career at BSM, Sanjay went on to play basketball for Northwestern University. Redshirted as a freshman following an injury, Sanjay played in all 33 games his first season on the court. A major contributor for four years, he was consistently an Academic All-Big Ten honoree.
In his senior year season Sanjay started all 36 games, was team captain, Northwestern’s male recipient of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award, and a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar. At the end of his career as a Wildcat, Sanjay ranked second in school history with 137 games played and fourth with 126 starts. Sanjay went on to play two seasons in the G-League, one for the Erie BayHawks, and another for the College Park Skyhawks.
Sanjay has now found his way onto the bench as a coach, spending time as an assistant coach for the Utah Jazz, and this upcoming season for the Atlanta Hawks.

Grant spent all 4 of his years at BSM on the varsity hockey team, and 3 on the varsity baseball team. During his first season as a Red Knight he set a BSM freshman record and paced the state’s freshmen with 30 goals, finishing the season with 50 points in 27 games. As a sophomore he had 33 goals and 53 points, making him one of 3 BSM players in school history to record back-to-back 50-point seasons.
He was named All Conference his first two seasons, and a St. Paul Pioneer Press honorable mention all-state selection as a sophomore. As a junior Grant earned a spot on the All-State First Team. In the 2012 state hockey tournament, he recorded 12 goals and 18 points in 6 games. He set a tournament record when he scored 5 goals, including 3 short-handed, in the 5-1 championship win over Hill Murray.
A two-time captain, he had a total of 163 career high school goals, finishing 5th in Minnesota history. He was named the Minnesota Mr. Hockey, and the Associated Press Player of the Year for Minnesota. Grant finished off his athletic career at BSM by being given the Al Blasing Award. He continued his hockey journey at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Grant was a consistent team point leader for the Badgers and a two-year assistant captain. He completed his four-year collegiate career with 37 goals and 97 points in 138 games.
After college, he signed as a free agent to his first professional contract with the Norfolk Admirals of the ECHL. His next years on the ice included time with the Monsters, Bears and Stingrays (sounds a bit like Halloween). He finished his hockey career in Europe. He has now entered the corporate world and is back to guide Coach Pauly and the Red Knights.

Jarred is a four-time Minnesota State High School League state qualifier, and three-time MSHSL state place winner placing 2nd in 2011, 5th in 2012, and 1st in 2013. He was a 5 time Junior National All-American, 3 time Fargo Junior National All-American in Freestyle and Greco, and 2012 National Champion in Greco.
In addition, he is a 2011 USA Wrestling National Champion in Folkstyle. Jarred posted a 155-16 record as a high school wrestler at BSM. He went on to wrestle at St. Cloud State University. Jarred was redshirted his freshman year, but went on to wrestle in the 2014-15, 2015-16, and 2016-17 seasons. As a sophomore, he went 19-6 with 11 pins.
He carded 2nd place finishes at the Cobber, Dragon, and North Country Opens, and also charted a first place finish at the 2014 Husky Open. During his junior year in the 2015-16 season, Jarred was a starter at 133 pounds and posted a 26-10 record. He had 13 falls, a 12-4 dual record, and 4-0 record at the NWCA National Duals. He finished in first place at the 2015 Husky Open. As a senior, Jarred was named team captain, and had a 20-7 record with 11 falls. He placed first at the Husky Open, first at the North Country Open, and third at the 2017 NCAA DII Regional.
He was a 2017 NCAA DII championship qualifier, All NSIC First Team Selection, and given the Iron Man of the Year award for the Huskies.
